“His Lyre Is Now Attuned Only to Woe”
“D and fables I fashion,” wrote 18th-century Italian poet and librettist Pietro Metastasio, “and even while I sketch elaborate fables and dreams upon paper ... I so enter into them that I weep and am offended at ills I invented” (1). Metastasio might have been describing the work of his contemporary Giambattista Tiepolo, whose art blended history, mythology, legend, and scripture in a grand man...
متن کاملI-4: Is It Time Now to Cancel Fresh EmbryoTransfer
The implantation of embryo depends on the quality of the embryo and the receptivity of the endometrium. While the factors affecting embryo quality were optimized, the implantation rates did not reach the desirable levels. This directs the blaming for endometrial receptivity which already has been affected by supra-physiological levels of hormone, namely estradiol, in controlled ovarian hypersti...

متن کاملHuman vision is attuned to the diffuseness of natural light.
All images are highly ambiguous, and to perceive 3-D scenes, the human visual system relies on assumptions about what lighting conditions are most probable. Here we show that human observers' assumptions about lighting diffuseness are well matched to the diffuseness of lighting in real-world scenes. We use a novel multidirectional photometer to measure lighting in hundreds of environments, and ...

Vagal paragangliomas are rare tumours that arise from glomus cells along the length of the vagus nerve. We present a case in which a vagal paraganglioma has arisen from the vagus nerve at the carotid bifurcation, and has mimicked the 'Lyre Sign' of a carotid body tumour.
